Dearest Punky,
This month has been so much fun. Your smirks have turned into huge gummy grins, and even outright giggles. You are so cuddly, but also so ready to conquer that big world out there.
Most recently, you have started grabbing at your bottle and trying to put it in your mouth. You are very pleased with yourself when you can actually make it in your mouth and not your eye, forehead, or neck. Typically, if you make it into your mouth, you will give me a big gummy grin as if to say, “Look Ma, I did it myself!”
Also, you have really started enjoying your Rainforest Jumperoo. You have learned how to make all the toys spin, and make noises. Sometimes you get so excited while playing that your legs just start kicking away like you are marching. You think it is pretty neat that you can sit up like a big girl and play on your own.
Speaking of sitting up like a big girl, you love to try and sit up now. If I ever put you in a reclined position, you immediately will start grunting and straining to push yourself up. You especially like to do this in your car seat. You really don’t like being strapped into anything. You just can’t wait to move! You also really like when I let you sit on a blanket on the floor. You try so hard to sit on your own, but you basically end up leaning forward really far to keep your balance. I can’t wait until you can sit on your own on my lap!
Mommy and Daddy both really enjoy getting to wear you around town. You do not like being carried in your car seat, and sometimes Mommy and Daddie’s arms get tired, so we like to wear you in a carrier or a sling. You really seem to like it when Daddy wears you because you are so high in the air!
To my shock, I caught you petting Sherlock the other day. I was feeding you, and Sherlock came and laid next to me, and soon enough I looked down and caught you grabbing his ears and the hair on the top of his head. He didn’t seem to mind at all. I guess you are going to be a cat lover like your Mommy and Daddy, right from the very start!
Oh yes, you have mastered rolling from your belly to your back, and you are working really hard on rolling from your back to your belly. It is so cute to see you squirming around trying to move. I can’t believe that you are going to be crawling one of these days! Mommy just wants to carry you forever.
Your hair has started to grow back in, so you don’t have male pattern baldness anymore! It looks like it is going to be a light golden brown. Your dark hair looks so pretty with your light blue eyes.
You are really chewing on your fists (and just about anything else you can get your hands on) so we think that a tooth maybe giving you a visit any day now. In church one Sunday Daddy was wearing you in a carrier and you kept grabbing his finger and pulling it into your mouth so you can gnaw on it. Right now, there are two little white spots on your lower gums. I can’t wait for those little teeth to make an appearance!
You enjoyed a visit from your Great Grandma Nita at the end of this month. You loved all of the attention! She really thinks you are something!
In fact, all of your grandmas, grandpas, and great grandmas absolutely adore you, and you see them often. You really like when your Papa and Nana visit too, they came by a few times this month to see you.
You are such a talker! You love to test your voice and make all kinds of silly noises. You decided one day to start making a really deep noise that sounded like a dinosaur. When I was wearing you in a sling in Walmart you kept making that noise really loudly, and everyone would turn and look at me, because they thought I was the one making the noise! Silly girl!
You love to copy us. So far you say “Ah goo” and you make a noise like “Hi!” and you also like to try and blow a raspberry. Still no “Mama”. Oh well, maybe next month!
Oh yes, one of your favorite things is small rags or blankets. You love being able to hold them and put them in your mouth. You are so goofy!
Well lovebug, you are growing up so fast. I love every second I spend with you, and often have to make myself let you play on your own for just a few minutes. I love playing with you and cuddling you. You are so precious to me, you will never know until you have your own little girl someday. Please know that I will love you always and forever!
As I tell you each night:Â I love you forever, I like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.
Love you sissy,
Mama
