Heading to the Hospital!

Posted by Brandon

We had our final Dr. appt. this morning and he is going to induce tomorrow morning. We’re heading to the hospital at 5:30 p.m. tonight so they can prepare MJ for the induction.

Aubrey Ann should be born May 1st, 2007!

Happy almost birthday baby girl!

Babymoon

Posted by Mari Jo

We have obviously been back from our babymoon for quite awhile. I thought I would give you a bit of info about what we did. Brandon planned a vacation to Monterey, where we stayed in a beautiful bed and breakfast. It was so sweet and relaxing. It rained most of the first day we were there, so we had no choice but to sit by a window, watch the waves, and sip on hot cocoa all day (bummer!).

The next day we had enough good weather to do some window shopping, and go to a movie. It was so relaxing!

The last day, we stayed in bed past 10 am and made the trip home.

I told Brandon that I didn’t mind that the weather was bad, because it forced us to stay in, enjoy our beautiful room, and relax. It was an absolutely perfect getaway!

babymoonbed.jpgHere is our bathtub, notice the used bath towel in the corner. Yep, this bathtub got good use!

babymoonwindow.jpgHere is the view from our window. It was gorgeous. You could hear the waves all night.

babymoonmjb.jpgAnd finally, proof that we had a great time. Brandon didn’t know it, but I was getting ready to get him!

Here’s a quick video from the beach in Monterey.

Babymoon 2007 was a great success!

One more week…..at least…..

Posted by Mari Jo

Well, after my doctors appointment yesterday I am pretty discouraged.  I found out that it is going to be at least another week before baby girl arrives.  Probably doesn’t sound very long to most of you, but to me that seems like an eternity.

I am running on little to no sleep, and the back, hip, and lower abdominal pain, are making it difficult to do just about anything.  Do you think I could just go into hibernation and wake up when she comes? :)

The thing that disappoints me the most is that it will be another week before my baby girl is in my arms!  I miss her so much and I just feel like an incomplete person without her here!

The belly has lost all interest for me.  It is big, round, and boring.  I am ready to unwrap this package and see what’s inside!

I guess I have just worked a little too hard to make sure it is nice and cozy in there for Aubrey Ann, because she has decided she is going to stay put.  Maybe if I start eating things I know she doesn’t like, like veggie subs from subway, she will decide to get a move on.  I don’t know why she doesn’t like veggie subs, I think they are tasty!  Every time I eat one she starts kicking up a storm, and presses her bottom right underneath my left rib.  Needless to say, the tasty goodness of the veggie sub was far outweighed by the pain caused by my little ones temper tantrum.  So no more veggie subs for me…. :(

Well, we will keep you posted, but you all can rest easy for the time being.  Unless, she decides to make an unexpected appearance.   :)   We can pray for that!

Update on Team Hopkins

Posted by Mari Jo

Hey everybody!

It is indeed time for an update on how the three of us are doing. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant (in four week months that is over nine months!) which is considered “full-term”. So Aubrey Ann could decided to make her appearance any time and she would be good. We are relieved and anxious as we know the time has finally come to meet our little girl for the first time.

Sleeping has not been so restful lately. I am making this post at 3 am, after spending all day on my feet cleaning. I cannot imagine my body being more tired and ready for sleep, but for some reason every night between 2 and 4, I am wide awake for about 3 hours. I guess God really wants me prepared for those late night feedings!

Brandon and I believe that I have just started nesting. For those of you who are not pregnancy savvy, nesting is an instinct that pregnant women experience during their last weeks, days, or just hours before giving birth. A pregnant woman will experience a huge surge in energy, followed by the desire to clean everything in sight. Today, I literally cleaned the house for over 8 hours. Then I made a big dinner, then of course had to re-clean the kitchen, then we put the baby seat in the car and I vacuumed the car out, and finally I did every stitch of laundry. I cleaned certain things over and over again. You can literally see yourself in our tile and the carpet is driving me crazy because I can’t keep footprints off of it! I feel like I am going a bit bonkers! Brandon read that sometimes labor can start between 24 and 48 hours of nesting, so maybe this is a sign that she is well on her way! I hope so, cause this nesting thing is killing my lower back. I am glad I was home alone doing most of this, because most people would have found it quite amusing to watch a 9 month pregnant woman on her hands and knees scrubbing every last square inch of tile, or bent over polishing the faucets for the billionth time!

Finally, there was some talk at my last appointment about possibly inducing me at 38 weeks and a few days. Dr. Nassar is concerned that our girl is a BIG girl, and I certainly agree. Although no decisions were made, we will be doing some extensive talking at our next appointment to make sure that this is the best option for us, so we will see!

Brandon is holding up pretty well. He is getting more nervous as the time for labor draws near. He is having a hard time imagining me in that much pain, and says that he may find it hard to give me any “space” while I am in labor. I am just comforted by the thoughts that women have been giving birth since Eve and most have made it through ok. I think Brandon is most comforted by the thoughts of an epidural!

Well, we are in the home stretch. I can’t believe we have made it this far. It feels like I blinked and the pregnancy is over. Although I am ready to meet our little girl, I will miss feeling her as close as she is now. Please continue to pray for us, that labor is quick and easy, and that Aubrey Ann is perfectly healthy. Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive. We love you guys!

A Day in the Life of Aubrey Ann

Posted by Mari Jo

I thought I would make a little record of how Aubrey Ann spends her days, so that she can look back someday and know what she was like when she was in my tummy. So here goes.

7-7:30 Aubrey Ann wakes up, and wants her breakfast. Usually her movements are like little rolls, like she is rolling over in bed.

7:30 I eat breakfast and Aubrey Ann is usually pretty content. She wakes up while I am eating, and stays awake until a few minutes after. Our favorite breakfast has been cereal, and lately she has to have Honey Nut Cheerios. The milk in our cereal makes her sleepy, so she is right back to sleep after some baby gymnastics to get back into a comfortable position.

7:45-10:00 Nap time, I won’t feel a kick poke or squirm until around 10:00 am. Then at 10, she wakes up for a few stretches and is right back to sleep.

12:00-1:00 Lunch time. She usually doesn’t wake up until I am eating. I think the yummy food wakes her! This is also time for her Daddy to come home for a visit. She enjoys his voice. Usually if she is kicking and Brandon talks, she will stop and just listen. If she isn’t kicking and he wakes her up, she starts kicking up a storm! Brandon has had many kicks in the mouth and cheek while giving our little one a “pep talk”. Aubrey Ann likes fruit and yogurt at lunch time. Mom prefers something salty, but Aubrey Ann usually gets her way!

1-4pm Aubrey Ann usually wakes at normal intervals between 1 and 4, then she likes to get up around 4 and she is really active. This is one of her favorite times to push under my ribs. She enjoys pushing out with both hands and both feet to see if Mom’s belly can give her a little more room! Usually around now she will have her first case of hiccups for the day.

4-7 Aubrey Ann starts wanting some dinner. Usually she always has another case of hiccups after dinner. I don’t know what I am eating that just doesn’t sit right with her. Poor little one!

7-10 Another nice long nap is in order. Usually won’t feel her move until right around 10 or so.

10-11:30 Aubrey Ann wakes up and starts moving like CRAZY! This is definitely her most active time of the day! I think it might be because it is when Brandon and I are laying down doing some reading, and she wants some attention! This is the time that we spend talking, reading, and singing to her. She has her last case of hiccups around this time. It is funny, if I sing, she usually calms down for about the first two verses, then gets bored and goes right back to squirming. This is the time of day that this little one makes it a bit uncomfortable in my body. She wears herself out around 11:30 and falls asleep.

11:30-7am Aubrey Ann has a couple of times she wakes up at night, though usually she stays pretty sleepy. She will sometimes wake up after one of my many trips to the bathroom, but she will go right back to sleep after just a few minutes.

Well, this little one sure is special. I can’t wait until I get to see her at all these different times of the day. We love her so much and we are soooo ready for her to come!
